Post a helicopter lease wanted request — dry or wet, by model, by region

When you need to lease an airframe — seasonal cover, project work, AOG bridge — post a free Lease Wanted on ChopperSwap. Owners with available capacity respond with dry-lease day-rate, wet-lease hourly and minimum-term offers.

Lease supply is fragmented: owners with idle hours rarely advertise, and brokers carry only a fraction of the available fleet. A Wanted post turns the search inside out — instead of you calling 20 operators, qualified owners come to you with terms.

ChopperSwap's Lease Wanted wizard captures model, region, dry vs wet, start date, minimum term, monthly hours and insurance requirements. Owners respond with a signed term-sheet draft; you compare and close directly.

Steps

  1. Open the Lease Wanted wizard — Sign in and click "Create listing" → "Helicopter Lease Wanted". Three-minute flow covering model, region, dry/wet and term.
  2. Specify model and region — Preferred manufacturer / model (e.g. AS350 B3, Bell 407, EC135). Operating region and base airport. Acceptable alternative models.
  3. Choose dry or wet lease — Dry lease (airframe only, you supply pilots and crew) or wet lease / ACMI (aircraft + crew + maintenance + insurance). Affects who can respond and on what cost basis.
  4. Set term and utilisation — Start date, minimum and maximum term (one month to multi-year), expected monthly flight hours, mission type (utility, tour, EMS, ENG, training).
  5. Publish and negotiate — Owners respond with rate proposals through the platform. Compare day-rate vs hourly vs hybrid, request insurance certificates via the document vault, sign the lease offline.

Why ChopperSwap

Reaches owners who don't advertise

Most lease-able airframes never appear on a "for lease" page. Wanted posts pull them out of the woodwork.

Dry and wet in one workflow

Specify the model on either basis — the wizard routes your request to the right responder pool.

Insurance and document vault built-in

Exchange insurance certificates, maintenance status and lease drafts through the secure vault. Both sides retain a paper trail.

No broker layer

You contract directly with the owner. No 5–10% commission cut.

Frequently asked questions

Dry vs wet lease — which should I post?

Dry lease (airframe only) if you have your own pilots and Part 135 / AOC. Wet lease / ACMI if you need the operator to provide pilots, maintenance and insurance — common for tour-season cover and short projects.

What's the shortest term?

Many owners will quote one-month minimums on dry lease and project-specific terms on wet. The wizard accepts any minimum from one week up.

Do I have to disclose the project?

No — mission type is a required field (utility / tour / ENG / EMS / training) but project specifics are optional and visible only after you reply to a responder.

Is the post free?

Yes. Lease Wanted is free to post and owners pay nothing to respond. ChopperSwap never takes commission on the lease.

Can I lease a helicopter with an option to buy?

Yes — flag "lease-to-own interest" in the wizard. Owners who would consider a sale at term-end will respond on that basis.
